Cold foil printing BrilliantEye(R) is a totally new form of expression that allows color ink to be printed over applied foil.
Up till now, the application of foil was performed by the hot foil stamping method where the foil was stamped using a prepared die. Cold foil printing BrilliantEye(R), however, does not require the use of a die. It uses a conventional offset printing plate which enables gradations, fine lines and text to be reproduced, something that was not possible with hot foil stamping.
Because cold foil printing BrilliantEye(R) overprints the foil with color ink, you can expect the brilliance of various vivid colors not found with simple gold or silver foil. This will leave customers with a stunning impression that will make them want to keep printed matter even longer.

FoilStar (inline stamping press)→
Cold foil printing BrilliantEye(R) is conducted by Heidelberg's very latest press Speedmaster XL 105-10LX3 configured with the inline stamping press FoilStar.
FoilStar first coats the printing stock with an exclusive high-tack glue, and the foil is applied by pressure to areas of the stock coated with glue. We currently have two presses, the XL 105-10LX3 and CD74-6LXF. When cold foil printing BrilliantEye(R) is performed on the XL 105-10LX3, process color, custom color, spot UV varnishing, and other printing processes are performed on the remaining impression cylinders to achieve a variety of color nuances.

Micro-embossing - or the process of die-stamping at fine intervals - is performed by the Heidelberg Varimatrix press. Embossing is done in the same process as regular pressing and die cutting.
EINS Corporation has created "POPSTAR by FoilStar" as a print buyer project together with Heidelberg Japan.
Cold foil printing and embossing/micro-embossing technology is used in combination on images on records. Besides the brilliance of foil itself, embossed titles stand out dynamically, and the detailed unevenness of micro-embossing gives the paper a 3D look and feel.
So as to more fully demonstrate the effect of value-added printing, we shall be making full use of the characteristics of cold foil printing and further expanding the scope of expression by finishing on Varimatrix.
